YouTube videos, The Disaster Artist, and The Room

This is gonna be another post of me improvising and may be of questionable entertainment value.

It's a night of funny and/or weird YouTube videos. This after watching the last hour or so of The Disaster Artist, the James Franco movie about the making of The Room, regarded by many was the worst movie ever made.

Speaking of Tommy Wiseau's The Room, it was actually our older son who tipped me off to its existence. He must have only been in middle school. I have no idea how he found out about The Room. For anyone who's unfamiliar with this film, it has to be seen to be believed. It's as if a space alien landed on Earth and wrote a screenplay based on 24 hours (or less) of observing humans.

One might be better off skipping The Room entirely and just watching The Disaster Artist. It's a funny behind-the-scenes look at who Tommy Wiseau is and how The Room came to be, and unlike The Room, it's a coherent and well-made film with good acting. It also faithfully recreates The Room's most iconic scenes. 

Another idea is to watch The Disaster Artist first, and then if one is feeling adventurous or curious or crazy, watch The Room next.

Changing subjects: with three days left in 2024, I want to get one more "1984 albums" post up, then maybe have one more post that discusses all the other '84 albums that didn't make the cut but deserve to be mentioned.

The funniest speech I’ve heard in quite awhile. Ron Swanson’s "Visions of Nature" art show grand opening speech from Parks and Recreation. Billy Joel vs. R.E.M.

Awhile ago, a friend of mind sent me, via a Facebook message, the "assignment" of comparing and contrasting Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire" and R.E.M.'s "It's the End of World as We Know It (and I Feel Fine)." This friend is someone I've known since about sixth grade, and we often go back and forth about music and pop culture. Anyway, this is my extemely off-the-cuff reply to his challenge.
